Cotton / Twill
Cotton twill is the workhorse of bottom-weight apparel. The diagonal weave (called a 'wale') gives the fabric more yarn per square inch than a plain weave, which translates to better abrasion resistance, better drape, and better recovery from creasing. At 200-280 gsm it's heavy enough to hold the structure of pants and jackets but light enough to wear year-round. The smooth diagonal surface also takes embroidery and screen print exceptionally well.
