Is bamboo fabric really eco-friendly?
Bamboo viscose production uses a chemical process similar to viscose rayon — less eco-friendly than Tencel's closed-loop process, but better than cotton in terms of water and pesticide use. The bamboo plant itself is fast-growing and doesn't need pesticides.
Is bamboo naturally antibacterial?
Yes — the bamboo plant contains 'bamboo kun', an antimicrobial agent that persists in the fiber through processing. This gives bamboo fabric natural odor resistance that survives many wash cycles.
Can you do bamboo-cotton blends?
Yes — 70/30, 60/40, and 50/50 bamboo-cotton blends are common. The blend reduces cost while keeping most of bamboo's performance properties.
